758Cases of human rights violations in Yemen, October 2020

The Human Rights Monitoring Team of the Future Partners Foundation for Development and Human Rights issued its monthly report on the human rights situation in Yemen during the month of October of 2020. The report included many violations that affected civilians in many Yemeni cities, especially cities that witness escalating violations despite their occurrence outside the circle. Fighting like Sanaa , Ibb and Aden governorate. It is supposed to witness stability and absence of the state of violations that ordinary citizens are exposed to, and field observers attribute this to the outlaw behavior of the groups that run these governorates due to the lack of security and the proliferation of weapons, which contributed to the escalation of the phenomenon of violations and restrictions on the freedoms of civil organizations that work to monitor human rights violations In those cities, the phenomenon of the kidnapping of girls and the horrific spread of the rape of children and then killing of them surfaced.

The monitoring team said that October of 2020 recorded a terrible escalation in violations. The team recorded 758 cases of human rights violations during this month. The monitoring team said in its monthly report that the total number of violations that affected civilian citizens in all Yemeni cities, which the team was able to monitor despite its modest ability, amounted to 758 violations. The human rights and humanitarian violations mentioned in the report were distributed as follows:

First: direct killing

The team monitored 120 cases of violations between killing and wounding civilians during the month of October. Among them are 72 dead. By 60 men, 4 women and 8 children. 48 civilians were wounded, including 42 men, 4 women and 2 children.

Second: victims of snipers and mines

Mines and the areas where they are planted still pose a great danger to civilians, as they are targeted on roads and farms, in addition to the proliferation of snipers who target civilians, including children and women, on the roads, public places and residential neighborhoods.

The report stated that 20 casualties were killed or wounded by a sniper, as 9 civilians were killed, including 4 men, 2 women and 3 children. 7 men, 3 women and 1 child were wounded by snipers deployed in the contact areas in Taiz, Al Hudaydah and Al Dhale'e.

The victim of planting mines and other explosives during this month, 5 civilians were killed, all male, and 14 men were wounded.

Third: missiles and Katyusha rockets

The report stated that 88 civilians were killed or injured were victims of the deadly shells and Katyusha rockets fired at civilians from time to time. Where he killed 22 people. They include 13 men, 5 women and 4 children. It injured 66 civilians, including 48 men, 14 women and 4 children.

Fourth: arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance

First: Arbitrary detention: The team monitored the exposure of 60 civilians to arbitrary arrest. Among them are 58 men, including 2 human rights activists, 2 media professionals, 1 mosque preacher, and 2 women.

Second: Enforced disappearance: Twenty-six civilians were subjected to enforced disappearance, of whom 13 were men, including 1 a mosque preacher, 1 sports player, 6 women and 7 children.

Fifth: storming and destroying public buildings and private residences

The report mentioned that 7 houses were stormed and their contents looted, in addition to 24 homes being burned and demolished as a result of the bombing, and the report mentioned that 7 public facilities were demolished and burned between a school, a factory and health centers, and 4 public and private facilities were stormed. Sixth: Suicide and rape

The report concluded by the monitoring team of the Future Partners Foundation to monitor the suicide of one man.

Twenty children were raped. According to indications that indicate an increase in the state of rape, which is kept quiet for fear of shame, or because of customs and traditions that prevent the disclosure and reporting of the rape case that children and women are exposed to. There are many cases that the report's monitors were unable to reach.

The report concluded by monitoring the killing of 2 men and wounding one man by the US drone aircraft, one of the citizens was killed on the Saudi-Yemeni border by border guards, 2 children were killed when a damaged gas cylinder exploded, 3 prisoners were subjected to execution and their corpses mutilated in the detention centers, and a decision was issued to demolish and be removed 11 archaeological houses in Sana'a, which threatens the old Sana'a to be outside the UNESCO World Heritage List. And 340 families were displaced as a result of the hostilities in both Al-Jawf and Marib.

The report stated that Hodeidah topped the governorates in violating rights with 115 violations, followed by Taiz Governorate with 78 violations, and Sana'a Governorate came in third place with 62 violations, followed by Aden Governorate with 46 violations, then Ibb Governorate with 28 violations, and then Al Bayda Governorate with 20 violations. Violation, Dhamar governorate ranked seventh with 18 violations, then Al Jawf with 17 violations, then Dhali �governorate with 14 violations, and Lahj came in tenth order with 8 violations, then Marib and Amran with 4 violations in each of them, and in conclusion, both of Hadramout and Abyan governorate Shabwa and Rayma, one violation in each governorate.
